Aeroplanes and Helicopters Simon Drakeley

Will Fly In Just One Day!

Organising a unique event such as Flight Of Hope is extremely complex. With Simon starting in Manchester flying a scheduled service BMI flight to Heathrow, then transferring to a Robinson R44 helicopter to fly on to Shoreham is a logistical nightmare in itself.

However once at Shoreham there is no time to stop, Simon will have to jump from one aircraft to another in rapid succession in order to achieve the goal of flying as many different aircraft and helicopter types as possible. He will have to study the technical aspects of each aircraft and know how each one flies (i.e. mixing up power settings and speeds is not a good idea!) This is a mammoth task and we wish him luck with all his study!

Safety on the ground and in the air is of vital importance of course. It will be ensured by a team of staff, who in their own right have vast experience in aviation. Graham Jones also a Captain with BMI and a helicopter pilot will be leading this team and liasing with all parties from ATC, to ground/flight personnel and press.

Think you can fly a helicopter? Click on the Helicopter Game link to the left and give it a whirl! Don't try it at work though, you'll get nothing done!
